Who I've worked with
About
I spent 13 years as a policy analyst and manager in the BC and Manitoba public services before going independent. I've worked on some of Canada's most complex and consequential policy files — from provincial cannabis regulation to national health policy negotiations to federal-provincial relations out of the BC Premier's Office.
I started Derksen Consulting to use my inside knowledge of government policy and regulation-making to provide organizations with the research and advice needed to successfully engage with government and achieve their goals. My background is in intergovernmental relations, health policy, and regulated industries. I spent six years developing policy and legislation for non-medical cannabis retail and distribution in BC, and earlier in my career worked on federal-provincial health negotiations, Canada-U.S. relations, and skilled trades policy in Manitoba.
I hold a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria. I work remotely and take on clients across Canada. If you have a policy challenge I can help with, I'd love to hear from you.
